Where to find Career Advice

When it comes to making a career choice it can be a daunting task. So where do you go for career advice, guidance and information? Here are some places to start:

• Talk to careers guidance counsellors at school, uni and TAFE - they have a wealth of knowledge and experience and can arm you with all the information you may need to make your choice.
• Go to career expos - one of the best ways is to talk to those in the industry and careers expos are a great place to do that all at once! Come and find GrowingCareers at the National Careers and Employment Expos this year.
• Have a look at some of employment websites like SEEK and CareerOne. They usually have a bunch of tips for writing a great CV or performing well in interviews so can really help you lad that job once you’ve decided what direction to go in.
• Talk to family and friends in the industry and find about their jobs. Ask them for introductions to people who might be able to help you.

Of course, you can go straight to the GrowingCareers.com.au or get in touch with potential employers directly. Many advertise jobs on their websites. Do your research and then approach them to see if they would be prepared to offer you work experience.
