Role

Your role will vary according to the level and position, and you’ll usually have the opportunity to learn and apply more than one skill.

Typical paper making work includes:


  • Machine operation

  • Identifying defects

  • Testing and analysis

  • Paper winding

  • Sheeting and packing

  • Coating

  • Team leadership

  • Problem solving

  • Machine maintenance

  • Production planning

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring that pulp and paper products are made and delivered to specification and that you are working accurately and safely at all times.

Ideal Attributes

You’ll like the technical side of things, be interested in renewable resources and generally enjoy working in a team environment.

A high level of understanding and commitment to occupational health and safety is essential.

Qualifications

Typically, entry level jobs require you to have, or undertake, Certificate II in Paper Making Operations or Pulping Operations.

Higher level jobs require Certificates III or IV in Pulping or Papermaking operations, a Diploma in Pulp and paper Process Management or other tertiary qualifications.

Employers in the forest and wood products industry are very supportive of ongoing training and skills development.
